Some guys think that the dirtier, the better. Gross. We agree that you can’t beat a well broken-in ball cap, but we recommend keeping those for yard work, visits to the beach, dirt bike riding, and hiking. Since nobody likes to smell your cap as you enter a room, we can help you keep your headwear looking new.
If you’ve got a collection of wool hats, the best method to clean them is by hand. We recommend using Perfect’s CapCare Kit since it is the best value by combining a cleaning solution bottle, cleaning brush & towel, and a Perfect Curve. You could also buy the Perfect Cleaner Bottle separately and touch up spots as often as you like.
We recommend our Water & Stain Repellant to help keep new and cleaned caps free of spills and dirt. The spray helps protect your caps from everyday elements and makes it a lot easier to clean the hats when you finally do.
Cleaning non-wool caps is easiest with the Ball Cap Buddy. This plastic holder can be used in your dishwasher or washing machine and does a great job of hands free cleaning. It helps keep the shape of the cap and protects it from other clothing or items rubbing up against it.
Always remember that whether you wash your cap by hand, with a Ball Cap Buddy, or some other equipment, BE CAREFUL on how you let your cap dry. If you just throw it on a counter and let it dry, it will ruin the shape and fit of a fitted cap. The best solution is to dry the hat as much as you can with a towel or blow dryer and wear it on your head while it dries. This will ensure that the cap won’t shrink beyond your head size and won’t loose its desired shape. If your cap feels tight, stretch it a little and keep molding it to your head shape and eventually it will fit just right.
If flat’s not your style, we can help you get the perfect curve (make perfect curve a link to the perfect curve product) on your cap’s bill.
Pick up the easy to use Perfect Curve accessory and you can curve your cap's bill to your desired setting. It also helps keep your bill shape when you’re not wearing your hat, and helps keep the curve while you’re washing your hat.
We can give a few pointers on how to resize your cap but beware: we assume NO responsibility for hats damaged by following these tips. Re-sizing your hat takes practice and we have damaged many of our own hats to get it right!
Shrinking your cap – Getting a cap wet is the easiest way to shrink it down one or two sizes. Some methods have been wearing a cap in the shower and letting it get soaked and shaped on your head in the shower. Another way is holding it underwater and then putting the soaked cap on your head and forming it to your shape. However you decide to do it, make sure you let the majority of the drying process take place on your head. This ensures a better chance of it not shrinking too much and keeping its shape. Use a towel to soak up the excess water and put the cap on as much as you can while it dries.
Be careful not to wet hats that look like they would have colors that would run into each other (i.e. white hat + red logo = pink cap with faded red logo).
If you are a true hat fanatic, you don’t just toss your cap collection in a box in your closet. The best looking caps are sometimes the ones we keep on display on our walls and behind our doors, not on our heads.
Hat Club has several accessories to help you organize and protect your headwear. For example, display your cap collection with the Perfect Rack which holds up to 36 caps on a rope system that can hang vertically or horizontally. Hang it from your ceiling, on your door, or on your closet hanger bar.
If you want a shorter option, we also carry the Perfect Mini Rack which holds up to 9 caps on the same rope design, with half the space.
We’ve also got the Hat Club Cap Pack to keep up to 24 of your caps zipped up, and protected from dust and other elements.
If you’re going to be traveling, you’ll need to keep your caps protected in their own case by using the New Era Cap Carrier. Take up to 6 hats in this reinforced (and good looking) travel case. No more ruined caps due to squished luggage.
