A Love letter to the Greatest Women in Hip Hop by Bree Walker.

So the story behind my collection is that I was given the opportunity to design my interpretation of a female aux pack, and as a lover of 90s hip hop and R&B, I wanted to create something that highlighted the women I grew up listening to and admiring. 

The name I landed on to really explain this pack is "A Crown for the Queens: A Love Letter to the Greatest Women in Hip Hop". I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight women who have played a key role in my style, music taste, and confidence which is why I used iconic women such as Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, and so on. Especially as a young woman of color growing up in NY, these are the women, the pillars of hip hop that set the tone for what it means to be fly, cool, and confident. I designed the hats by utilizing the colorways from my favorite albums from each artist and adding that to each team based on where each artist was born and raised. There were a lot of heavy hitters from NYC which made the selection a challenge but we used the most notable women to deliver the message behind this pack. I hope people, especially women will connect with this and feel themselves represented through this pack as well as the rollout. I have been granted the opportunity to design this collection and it was important I chose the right women that have helped mold who I am and this allowed me to give them their flowers through fitteds.
